Holiday Baking - Take Two!

We took another crack at holiday baking this weekend! Baking for 5-6 hours certainly takes a toll! We were both exhausted by the time we were done... and the kitchen was a mess! We had a lot of fun testing our non-existent icing/decorating skills with sugar cookies and finally broke out the Spritz cookie press we got as a wedding shower gift! I also made a double batch of Scott's favorite chocolate chip cookies and another batch of puppy cookies for the neighbor dogs!

The night before, we had an interesting evening trying our hand at mini banana bread loaves to give as gifts to our neighbors. The first two batches were made with baking soda instead of baking powder... doh! We caught the second batch before it went into the oven and after some google-ing we learned that we should add Cream of Tartar to make the baking soda into baking powder...

The baking soda batch turned out just fine, but the second batch was not good! The loaves didn't rise and I realized later that the inside was still raw! I definitely have some learning to do on the baking front! Luckily, we got 4 good loaves out of the evening. I think in the future - no more doubling recipes for making bread!

Here are some more pictures!

Starting the daunting process of decorating

I think the icing was a little thin!

Scott's mad icing skills

Very proud of his work!
